Director, Parent Engagement and Community Partnerships
Emily Gold currently serves as Speak UP’s Director of Parent Engagement and Community Partnerships, an active member of the leadership team that works closely with the Executive Director, managing program activities including Speak UP’s parent organizing efforts, leadership trainings, advocacy and policy objectives. As co-founder of Speak UP with Katie Braude, Emily has been with the organization since its inception. Before joining Speak UP’s staff, Emily served as Board Chair for Speak UP’s Board of Directors. Emily’s passion for engaging parents in electoral politics was fostered in her prior position as a parent organizer with the California Charter School Association, focusing on engaging parents to advocate for high-quality charter school options and to build a powerful voice to demand better education opportunities for all kids. Emily previously served as a Field Deputy in State Senator Sheila Kuehl's district office for Senator Kuehl’s tenure, and prior to that, in her Assembly office. Emily has served on several boards for organizations focused on social justice and equity. Emily son attends a Los Angeles public school. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of California at Santa Cruz and a Masters of Arts degree in negotiation and conflict resolution from California State, Dominguez Hills.
