The LAUSD Board votes Tuesday on a three-year Health Benefits Agreement proposed by the district and its employee unions. The deal essentially perpetuates the status quo and fails to seriously tackle the district’s financial crisis. If the Board rejects the proposal, all sides will be forced back to the negotiating table.
Also at the meeting, Board member Richard Vladovic (BD7) is introducing a resolution calling on health care providers to provide timely access to healthcare providers for employees, including reimbursements for out-of-network urgent care. And Board President Monica Garcia (BD2), and Board members Ref Rodriguez (BD5) and Kelly Gonez (BD6) are introducing a resolution to name March Declaring March as “Immigrant Student, Family, and District Staff Month.”
The Board is also voting to request a waiver from the California Department of Education to allow for an alternate composition of School Site Councils for specified small schools and for Special Education Centers. The entire agenda can be found here.
