Parent Engagement Coordinator
Sheyla Menzie, originally from Guatemala, is a resident of South Los Angeles and a mother to three children. She recently graduated from Cal State University Dominguez Hills with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She spent eight years working at an Immigration Law office and two years as a Community Representative with LAUSD, working closely with parents and the community. She joined Speak UP after witnessing how the needs of parents and their children were not always put first at LAUSD. Her goal is to empower parents to raise their voices and advocate for their children and for excellent public education in South Los Angeles and across the city.
