Speak UP's strategies and actions reflect a set of core values shared by our community. We work together to address the urgency of changing California’s public education outcomes by promoting actions and policies that are:

STUDENT-CENTERED

“What’s best for kids?” This question should be at the center of all education policy and decision-making.

EQUITY-DRIVEN

A high-quality education for all children is a civil right.

PARTICIPATORY

A high-quality education for all children can be achieved with the participation and accountability of all stakeholders: parents, teachers, administrators, elected representatives and students.

INFORMED

An informed community will advocate for well-educated children, improved public education and a respected, supported and well-prepared teaching force.

COLLABORATIVE

An approach that respects and values diverse viewpoints will unite communities around solutions that benefit all kids.

The mission of Speak UP is to engage, educate and activate parents and community members to advocate for excellent, equitable public education at their children’s schools, in their communities, with elected representatives and at the ballot box.
